madylynrose@gmail.com BioWelcome to my little corner of the web. I'm Madylyn, a woman in her early 30s who lives in the Vancouver, BC area with her sweetie Ian and her two kitties, Amber and Onyx.
I am a work in progress. I am generally a happy person and live an active, healthy life filled with as many beautiful things as possible. I am also a shameless hedonist and surround myself with sensual variety. Scent, sound, color and texture all inspire me to great lengths.
I have two families, the one I was born to and the one I have chosen, and I love both equally. I love with my whole heart and being, and I am loved in return. I am in a relationship with a wonderful man named Ian, who inspires me to be the best person I possibly can be. While our relationship is relatively new, he completes me in ways I could not possibly have imagined and I foresee many happy years with him in my life.
I am a very spiritual person. I have been pagan for nigh-on 15 years now, and my spiritual path has spiralled and woven its way over the years, bringing me to my current place as a solitary member of both the Sisterhood of Avalon and the Ar n'Draoicht Fein.
I am an entrepreneur. I own a business doing administrative and business consulting, specializing in efficiency and organization, particularly in the field of law. This allows me to work less than full-time hours and still pay the bills, while working towards opening a second business doing what inspires me - creating beautiful things. This is currently in the works, and my web site is not quite set up yet.
I have many widely varying interests, but they can all be grouped into two commonalities. I love to create and I love beautiful things. Music is a big part of my life; I am a classically trained pianist, and am teaching myself to play the harp. Mozart is my absolute favorite composer to perform, though Chopin comes in a close second. There is almost always something playing in iTunes, unless I'm watching a movie or gaming, and my iPod is coming close to being full.
When not creating beautiful sounds on my piano or harp, I can often be found creating beautiful things with my hands, from glass, metal, leather, fibre, thread, paper or clay. I haven't met very many crafts yet that I didn't like, but my favorites are lampworking, spinning, weaving, knitting, leather tooling, and embroidery. I would also love to learn more about calligraphy and illumination - I've dabbled in it but can't say I'm very good yet. I am a voracious consumer of all types of media; I keep up with a dozen different TV shows though I honestly can't remember the last time I actually turned the TV on. My book collection is spilling over my bookshelves, and my RSS subscriptions number in the 100s.
I am a member of the SCA (www.sca.org), where I portray a young unmarried viking woman from the area of Yorvik in approximate the year 950, which is now modern-day York. Yes, there were vikings in England - it was a huge trade centre. Her name is Asny. In the Current Middle Ages, I hail from the Barony of Lions Gate, in the Principality of Tir Righ, in the Kingdom of An Tir. I have been in the SCA for about 13 years now, but tend to be a little bit shy about introducing myself to new people in the society. I also have an alternate persona named Madylyne Sparkes, who is a widowed lady from Elizabethan England.
In the SCA, I am the apprentice to Mistress Seiglynda of Elphinstone, and a member of Holly House, a service and arts oriented household based mostly in the Lions Gate area. While I mostly focus on A&S and service, in particularly cooking, fiber arts and costuming, I have also recently taken up archery.
